To start off the editing process of my animated audio visual adverts I imported the segments of animation into the editing software in order to create the advert, once I had imported the segments I was able to put them together on the timeline in line with the storyboard to be able to create the offline edits.
Once I had published the offline edits I added to them to create the final products, I went through and added the transitions stated on the storyboard and checked they looked good with the content, the transitions I went for were mainly fades and dissolves between shots to make the advert play seamlessly and to avoid sudden scene changes. I then added the music and sound effects, I had previously downloaded all of the music and sound effects that I needed so I simply imported them into the editing suite. To be able to add the music to fit in with the adverts I did have to cut some tracks and move tracks around in order to achieve the audio I was hoping for. |
I then added the Soundlines title screen which is a picture I put together to be played at the end of the advert, the picture has the Soundlines logo on and tells the audience when the festival is and what to expect if you go, I put this at the end of all three adverts. To do this I added the picture over the moving animation of which fades out and leaves the picture on the screen, I thought this editing process was really effective as it fades out nicely to the information title screen which is informative to the audience and tells them everything they need to know. The music also continues as this screen comes up on screen, I edited the music to make it longer so that it ran for the duration of the picture and I also faded out the music as well as the picture to end the advert. |
Lastly, I added the relevant on screen text. For this, I picked out a font I liked this font was 'Headlines' of which I downloaded from dafont.com which is a website where you can download fonts for your own uses. I felt like this font really suited the advert as it was clear to read, stood out and also was quite generic but effective for the type of advert. I added the appropriate text and sized it to the space I had available in each scene, I then added transitions onto the texts of which I used simple fades so that the text could fade on screen and then fade off seamlessly as it's not too distracting that it distracts the audience from the animation. |
My first question asked the audience if they thought the adverts persuaded the audience to go to the festival and if so how. The responses I got were that the festival was made to seem fun and welcomes everyone through the adverts, I think this is because I made sure I used different content such as singing, dancing, live bands, film, poetry and music which made the festival seem open to everyone as it expresses how there is a variety of performances etc.
My second question asked the audience if they felt as so the audio in the adverts was suitable for the content, I asked this because I wanted to make sure the audience agreed with my choice of music and if it was suitable for an advert as music in adverts have to be catchy and memorable. The audience all thought that the audio in the adverts was suitable for the purpose of the advert so I believe I made the right choices in terms of sound when it came to post production.
My third question asked if the adverts were engaging for the audience, I asked this because the purpose of this advert was to engage and sell the festival Soundlines so this is a vital part to be able to meet the client brief. The audience responded saying that they found the adverts engaging which means my series of adverts comply with the client brief.
My fourth question asked if the audience thought the visual effects enhanced the meaning and purpose of the adverts, I wanted to ask this because with it being an audio visual promo the visual and audio elements are the most important and they enhance the meaning and purpose of what the advert is selling and promoting. The audience responded with the fact that they thought the visual effects enhanced meaning and purpose of the advert.
My fifth question asked the audience if they thought the adverts were clear in terms of what they were promoting, I asked this because I wanted to make sure the purpose of the advert was clear throughout the animation as sometimes its hard to make it clear when its animation as its not reality. However, my audience responded with the fact it was clear in terms of the purpose of the advert which shows me that
My sixth question asked the audience whether they thought there was enough information on the festival during the adverts, I asked this because the purpose of the adverts is to sell the festival therefore the information including dates and what to expect if you go is vital to the advert. The respondents answered that the adverts gave enough information on the festival which makes my adverts meet the client brief as the client brief required that the adverts contained relevant information on the festival during the adverts.
My seventh question asked the audience what in the adverts sold the festival to the audience, I asked this because I wanted to receive some feedback on what specifically in terms of elements sold the festival to the audience. The respondents replied to this question by stating that the variation of music really helped sell the festival as it showed that the festival was diverse and focused on a lot of different genres of music. The respondents also said how the animation itself in terms of the characters and their actions helped sell the festival as it showed a fun and positive atmosphere to the festival. Lastly, the audience also said how the information on the festival included in the adverts sold the festival as it gave the audience a clear inkling of what the festival was about and what to expect.
My last question of the questionnaire asked what audio effects were used that created meaning for the purpose of the festival, I asked this question because I wanted the audience to detect any audio effects that they thought really enhanced the meaning behind the adverts. The audience responded by saying that the audio was mainly music and some sound effects but they enhanced the meaning as they expressed the variety of the music that would be at the festival, the respondents also commented on the fact the festival ambiance and sound effects help set the scene of the advert making it apparent to the audience that the advert is set at a festival.
