Here is my idea generation process, to be able to follow the client brief I need to take on board the requirements that it asks for. The client brief says that the show has to 30 minutes and contain a 10 minute focus on social media. It also said that other news could be included as long as its up to date and relevant to the target audience. My show will be formatted exactly like the Radio 1 newsbeat shows are by this I mean I will have the stations jingles, music etc and follow the general set out of the show. The general news will be a known celebrity story and a general story that is in the news currently. I will also feature a weather update as the target audience would benefit from that.

In a radio news show there are always main headlines whether these be breaking news or general current news it will be featured. Headlines are usually run through during the beginning on the radio show and then explained in more depth later on in the show, this gives the audience a brief of the upcoming stories so that they keep listening to find out more. I have incorporated this into my planned content as I will have general news headlines before I go into my 10 minute feature on social media. After also looking at the specific codes and conventions for BBC Radio 1's newsbeat I have noticed that the headlines are run through first and then are explained one by one in more detail later on in the show, this is the approach I will be taking on board for my radio show.

On radio news shows it is apparent that there is usually one presenter or newsreader that reports the news to the audience, they are also in control of how they the information that they need to give out in terms of mode of address and how they present it to the audience. I will be using this code and convention in my radio show as I will be the presenter and I will report the news accordingly in the correct mode of address and style.

From this, you can see that I have tailored my planned content by incorporating the standard radio news show codes and conventions as well as the structure of a Radio 1 newsbeat. My general planning document includes the structure I will be aiming for which follows the codes and conventions of a Radio 1 newsbeat show. |
