The difference between the draft and the final script is that I added a title page, this makes it more professional and adds to the codes and conventions of an actual script that would be used in a professional product.
M2: LEGAL AND ETHICAL ISSUES ARE IDENTIFIED AND RESOLVED FOR THE PLANNED PRODUCTION
The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) is a UK regulator that regulates advertising in the UK in all media platforms. The ASA are in charge of my product as I am advertising Cambridge. I have to make sure that my promotional video complies to all of ASA’s standards and that I don’t break any of ASA’s rulings. Rulings:
Misleading information or footage; this may be a problem as I could get the information wrong on the subtitles and give people false information also the footage could be so edited that it looks fake, to prevent this from happening I will research the information before I add it to my video and I will not over edit or add any fake footage which could mislead people.
Children; This could possibly be an issue when I produce my promotional video. To avoid this happening I will not film any children or intend to.
Alcohol; I intend to take a photo of ‘Cambridge Wine Merchants’ entrance to the bar, obviously this is advertising alcohol but there is no alcohol actually shown so it shouldn’t flag up any bother
Alcohol Consumption being advertised
This advert pulled up concerns due to alcohol content and there being people under the age of 25 in the advert which is promoting drinking. This is a major problem because there was a scene of alcohol being poured into a women’s mouth which is advertising drinking. It also mentions about ‘alcohol shots’ shot’s are usually of highly percentage drinks such as vodka etc, to advertise this isn’t sensible especially if a younger audience was to see. To prevent this issue happening to me I will not record any footage of anyone consuming alcohol in my video, there will be a shot of an entrance to a bar but not inside so I will be away from from alcohol and so will the crew and I won’t be advertising alcohol consumption.
Using logos without permission
This was of a concerned because Life Clinic used another businesses logo without their permission. This could be a huge issue for me as I’m filming in Cambridge Centre packed full of different business and filming without getting logos in shot will be very hard to achieve. To prevent this issue from happening to me I am going to ask for permission from every shop I wish to film so that I am not breaching the copyright act of having another businesses logo in my video without permission.
Misleading
This was pulled up for sharing misleading information. To prevent this from happening to me I will do my research and make sure my facts are correct before adding it to the video.
Permission
All the permission is covered as long as I follow the steps that I’ve been sent. I received a detailed email back stating where I can and can’t film, places where I need to ask for permission else where and a list of safety precautions that I will be taking on board.
