P1: CREATE PRE-PRODUCTION MATERIALS FOR AN ORIGINAL TV PROGRAMME OR SHORT FILM, IN A CHOSEN GENRE
Soap Opera Research:
Treatment & Pitch:
Here is my treatment document covering an outline of the plot, sets, themes, characters, target audience, legal and ethical considerations and budget. Below this is also my pitch video, where I pitched my proposed idea to a client to gain commission.
This is my production schedule for my soap opera which includes details of planned activities that includes dates and timings as well as locations, personnel involvement and resources.
Here is my risk assessment for my soap opera, this a legal requirement which gives considerations for the relevant health and safety issues that could potentially occur for the locations of production.
This was part of my casting actors process, I put out an advert on a Facebook page designated for actors looking for work. From this advert, I was able to gain the two actors I needed for the extract of production I would be covering.
Storyboard:
Here is my storyboard that is a visual interpretation of what I want my title sequence to look like. I am aiming for a vert short title sequence as I do not see the benefit in having a long title sequence because people are most likely going to skip it. This title sequence idea consists of three different shots, two video shots and one still image shot. I believe this idea is a good because it gives the audience a simple and quick title sequence which gives them the information that the soap is clearly set in a restaurant.
Here is my storyboard for the production in the studio;
This is the location recce of the studio ( at Netherhall School and Sixth Form, Queen Edith's Way, Cambridge CB1 8NN) I will be shooting the extract of my soap opera in. The studio has many facilities including:
Plug sockets: There are a variety of plug sockets around the studio, plenty for a standard production.
Lighting: There are multiple lighting resources in this studio including house lights which can be used for setting up as well as studio lights which give the perfect lighting for filming my style of production.
Space: There is plenty of space for the actors and the crew members to fit, there's enough space for all of the equipment needed as well.
Necessities: There are several blocks of toilets around the building, the toilets can also be used for changing rooms. There is a canteen that is open at break times and lunch times which serves hot and cold food, there is also vending machines available on site.
Security: The studio is secure and can be locked from the outside and the inside, which keeps all equipment and actors belongings safe.
