This is my behind the scenes footage, during this I was setting up the tripod and camera checking if it all worked. I also did a colour correction and made sure the focus was working, for this I did a few test shots which I’ve added in.
There are a fair few precautions I have to consider to prevent copyright issues from happening while producing my promotional video. I signed a crew agreement form which is basically a terms and conditions for production to prevent any copy right issues.
In my promotional video, I should not permit any copyright matters. I am using an un copyrighted soundtrack of which I have been asked to credit in the final edit, the artist will have no right to take my video down as he has given me permission to use the track as long as it’s credited. This way I know my final product will be safe for me to distribute. I will ask for permission to film outside any shops or stalls, this is because I don’t want problems with copyright for example if I were to film a shop front without permission the video could potentially be not eligible for distribution, as long as I have permission I am covered. I do not intend to film any private businesses, the businesses I plan to film are all well known and have a trademark, asking for permission before filming these places is crucial for the success of my video.
M3: CREATE PRODUCTION MATERIAL THAT FOLLOWS THE CODES AND CONVENTIONS OF THE CHOSEN GENRE FOR THE MEDIA PRODUCT
Codes and Conventions: What are the codes and conventions of your product? The codes and conventions of my product (a promotional video, promoting shopping in Cambridge) are as follows;
Short but to the point, grabs the audiences attention
Happy and Positive
Captures a feel of the place you’re advertising
Feel for the atmosphere
To reinforce and educate someones view on somewhere
Gets across all necessary information
Creative and effective
How have you ensured you use them to keep your client happy? I have ensured I have used these codes and conventions, my video is short but to the point it’s also very engaging and positive. It educates people from outside of Cambridge on what Cambridge has to offer in a short, snappy and detailed promo video. It gets across all the necessary information for a promotional video, the information is enough to get the audience to want to go. I have ensured I’ve done this by following these codes and conventions throughout production and post production. I did this buy only taking relevant shots in production, filming well known places to grab the audiences attention and filming on a nice day, because the sun will make it a more positive video. In pre- production I took the codes and conventions on board as I was editing. I did this by including all the relevant information that is necessary for a promotional video and making it lively and creative as I could. Give 5 examples of where you have used the codes and conventions of your product.
From start to finish the weather is nice, the sun is shining and the sky is clear blue this promotes a happy and positive feel.
I have used a happy soundtrack, making the video upbeat and lively.
Some of the shots I have used are establishing shots, these shots capture a feel of Cambridge.
I have added in subtitles with relevant information on shopping in Cambridge, this will educate the audience.
The video is just over 2 minutes, it’s short but to the point and engages and educates the audience in that time.
